Championship and Mixed Pairs Championship
Amarilla Golf
Play is governed by the Rules of Golf, the World Final Rules & Regulations, the course markings and the dated Championship notice issued by the Committee. The instructions below explain the markings and procedures Championship players must use.
1. Boundaries and penalty areas
- Out of bounds is defined by boundary walls, fences, white stakes or white lines.
- Red and yellow stakes or lines define penalty areas. Where stakes and a line are used together, the line defines the edge.
2. Ground under repair and no-play zones
- Ground under repair is identified by white lines, blue stakes or a Committee sign.
- Mandatory relief must be taken from any area identified as a no-play zone.
- If an area is unclear, ask a referee or event official before returning the scorecard.
3. Immovable obstructions and embedded ball
- Artificially surfaced paths, fixed irrigation equipment and other immovable obstructions are treated under Rule 16.1.
- Embedded-ball relief is available under Rule 16.3 when the Rule’s conditions are met.
4. Temporary course conditions
Preferred lies, temporary relief areas, transport restrictions and any hole-specific condition will apply only when stated on the dated Championship notice or announced by an authorised official.
5. Rules uncertainty in stroke play
If a player is uncertain how to proceed and a referee is not immediately available, Rule 20.1c(3) allows the player to complete the hole with two balls. The player must choose which ball should count before making a stroke at either ball and report the facts to the Committee before returning the scorecard.
Ryder Experience
Golf del Sur
The rules below combine the current local-rules sheet supplied by Golf del Sur with the World Final Committee’s one-club-length preferred-lies override.
1. Out of bounds
- Out of bounds is defined by walls, fences, white stakes or white lines.
- The internal boundary between holes 13 and 14 applies when playing hole 14.
- The internal boundary between holes 14 and 15 applies when playing hole 15.
2. Abnormal course conditions – Rule 16.1
- Ground under repair is defined by blue stakes and closed white lines.
- The relief areas around the green on hole 7 apply as marked.
- All paths and the stones defining them, together with the entire irrigation system, are immovable obstructions.
3. No-play zones
The marked areas on holes 3, 4, 5 and 6 are no-play zones. Mandatory relief must be taken.
4. Integral objects
- All walls within the course.
- Areas covered with sand, wood chips or similar materials, and accumulations of stones.
- Stone areas on and around starting areas and beside the rough and fairways.
- Areas defined by closed blue lines.
5. Penalty areas – holes 7 and 8
The no-play zones at holes 7 and 8 require mandatory relief. Entering the reservoir or pond is strictly prohibited.
6. Preferred lies – Model Local Rule E-3
This Local Rule applies on all Golf del Sur fairways in play. When any part of a player’s ball touches a part of the general area cut to fairway height or less, the player may take free relief once by lifting and cleaning the ball, then placing the original ball or another ball within one club-length of the original spot. The relief area must not be nearer the hole than the original spot and must remain in the general area. The ball must be placed, not dropped. It does not apply in the rough, teeing areas or putting greens.
