How would you describe the Hotel Barceló Tenerife experience to players arriving for the 2026 World Final?

What makes the hotel unique that visitors should know before they arrive?
What truly sets us apart is our location. The volcanic landscape of southern Tenerife creates an atmosphere that no other island can replicate — black lava rock meeting turquoise Atlantic water, with Mount Teide rising on the horizon. We have designed the hotel to frame those views at every turn: from the infinity pool, from the spa terraces, from the dining room windows. On top of that, our team speaks over twelve languages, which means every player from every corner of the world will feel genuinely at home. What are the amenities and things to do at Hotel Barceló that visitors should try?
The spa is the first thing I always recommend. Our U-Spa Barceló offers a full menu of treatments — massages, hydrotherapy circuits, facials — and the relaxation pool looks directly out over the Atlantic. After a competitive round at Golf del Sur, there is nothing better. Beyond the spa, we have multiple swimming pools, including an adults-only terrace pool. For those who want to stay active, our fitness centre is fully equipped and open around the clock. And of course, the hotel sits just steps from the course itself, so a warm-up session or an early morning walk of the fairways is always an option before the first tee time.
Which areas of the hotel do you expect players and guests to enjoy most during the week?
The main terrace and pool area will be a natural gathering point — it is where the atmosphere really comes alive in the evenings. After play, players tend to unwind together there, comparing scorecards and sharing stories from the course. Our lobby bar is another hub; we will be ensuring it is fully stocked with local Canarian wines and craft beers throughout the week. For the more relaxed moments, the sun terrace rooms — those with direct pool or ocean views — give guests their own private space to decompress between rounds. We expect the spa to be very popular from day one.
What are the dishes or foods you recommend players try during their stay?
Tenerife has a remarkable food culture and we celebrate it throughout our menus. I always steer guests toward the fresh Atlantic seafood — particularly the local vieja (parrotfish) and the papas arrugadas with mojo verde. Our breakfast spread is legendary; it sets you up perfectly for a full day on the course. In the evenings, our main restaurant offers a dedicated Canarian tasting menu that takes guests on a tour of the island’s culinary heritage, from goat’s cheese from the north to slow-roasted pork from the interior. We also have an excellent selection of local Malvasía and Listán wines from the Canary Islands that pair beautifully with everything on the menu.

Beyond golf, I always encourage guests to take at least one evening in the nearby fishing village of Los Abrigos — it is only ten minutes from the hotel and has some of the finest seafood restaurants in the Canary Islands, all right on the water. For those with a free morning, the Paisaje Lunar hike near Vilaflor is an extraordinary experience — a lunar landscape of white rock formations set against pine forest, with Teide towering above. And of course, a sunset drive to Las Américas or Los Cristianos gives guests a taste of the livelier side of the island. Tenerife has something for every pace of traveller.

Tenerife is unlike any other island in the world.
