Official Partner Interview

Fred. Olsen, S.A. · World Final 2026

A century of island connection

Golf, Travel and the Canary Islands

Camilla von Guggenberg explains what Fred. Olsen, S.A.’s renewed partnership with the International Pairs World Final means for players, guests and the wider Canary Islands experience.

From the Olsen family’s beginnings in La Gomera in 1904 to fast inter-island travel, Hotel Jardín Tecina and 18 holes overlooking the Atlantic at Tecina Golf, this is a partnership grounded in more than event visibility. It is rooted in a long relationship with the islands.

Part one · A long-standing relationship

More Than a Century in the Canary Islands

How would you describe Fred. Olsen S.A.’s relationship with Tenerife and the Canary Islands?

Fred. Olsen’s relationship with Tenerife and the Canary Islands dates back more than a century. The Olsen family’s business activities in the islands began in 1904, initially through agriculture in La Gomera, before developing maritime connections to transport local produce to European markets.

This long-standing presence has enabled us to establish a very special bond with the islands. We are not simply a company operating in the Canary Islands; we are part of the social and economic fabric of the archipelago. Through Fred. Olsen Express, our tourism and leisure businesses such as Hotel Jardín Tecina and Tecina Golf, as well as our presence and investment in the islands, our aim has always been to contribute to connectivity, development and the wellbeing of the Canary Islands.

The Journey Is Part of the Experience

Tell us about Fred. Olsen Express. What can World Final players and guests expect when travelling with you between the islands?

Fred. Olsen Express has been connecting the Canary Islands by sea since 1974, when we launched the first route between Tenerife and La Gomera. Today, travelling between the islands is part of everyday life for Canarians, alongside the millions of visitors who come to the archipelago each year. Our aim is to make every journey as enjoyable as possible.

Players and their companions can expect fast, comfortable and convenient crossings, with frequent services connecting the different islands. Our modern fleet is designed to make inter-island travel easy, both for foot passengers and those travelling by vehicle. On board, passengers can also enjoy services such as our On Board Club entertainment, while those looking for an enhanced experience can opt for our Gold Class service.

For golf enthusiasts, the ferry also offers the opportunity to combine a stay in Tenerife with a round at Tecina Golf in La Gomera, turning the journey itself into part of the overall experience.
